Assistant Director of Compliance

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and appended by the Sr. Associate AD, SWA.

  • Manages the creation, facilitation, and distribution of financial aid documentation both external to and internally within the University for the Department of Athletics

  • Responsible for all educational efforts within the compliance office.

  • Develops and distributes effective compliance financial aid related materials.

  • Provides guidance and supervision to coaches, student-athletes, and staff.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Manages the creation, facilitation, and distribution of grant-in-aid information and materials.

  • Responsible for the planning, creation, and distribution of educational materials explaining NCAA, Costal Athletic Association, and Southern Conference rules to coaches, student-athletes, staff, and donors/fans.

  • Track all aspects of prospective student-athletes, to include initial eligibility evaluations, transfer regulations, admission requirements, contact/evaluations/visits on- and off-Manages compliance financial aid charting and database tracking systems.

  • Assists with the provision of interpretive guidance in alignment with NCAA, Coastal Athletic Association, and Southern Conference regulations for coaches, student-athletes, and staff.

  • Analyzes NCAA, CAA, and Southern Conference rules and regulations to develop procedures for implementation and ensure compliance.

  • Responsible for all training of coaches, student-athletes, and staff on use of compliance software.

  • Serves as liaison to Financial Aid, and Bursars’ offices as necessary.

  • Serves as the liaison to campus housing.

  • Develops and communicates financial aid tracking data and internal metrics to all parties as necessary.

  • Assists with the creation of social media posts applicable to NCAA, CAA, and Southern Conference rules.

  • Assists with the utilization and continued development of ARMS Software.

  • Trains coaches, student-athletes and staff how to use ARMS software for financial aid purposes.

  • Manages student-athlete employment monitoring and approval.

  • Oversees student-athlete outside competition requests and education efforts.

  • Oversees roster management of all 21 Division I teams, including renewal/non-renewal processes

  • Processes all waivers as appropriate.

  • Coordinates with the Sr. Associate AD, SWA regarding Financial Aid oversight.

  • Monitors all transfer portal data entry

  • Maintain student-athlete data base and provide compliance reports to NCAA and CAA (APR, graduation rates, student-athlete G.P.A.)

  • Ensures all assigned tasks are in compliance with department, University, NCAA, CAA, and Southern Conference rules and regulations.

  • Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.

Experience/Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required, Master’s Degree desired

  • Experience in Division I Compliance (or related) department desired, including intern/GA experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with CA and LSDBi (NCAA web-based date and information); knowledge of ARMS preferred

  • Must relate well with athletic staff and student-athletes.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate professionally and effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, the internet, and social media.

  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in interactions with those associated with athletic programs, including student athletes, coaches, officials, trainers, university faculty and staff, and the public.

  • Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.

  • Exercise good judgment in complex and new situations.
