JOB DESCRIPTION

The Graduate Assistant for Athletic Events & Facilities will support the planning, coordination, and execution of all home athletic events while assisting with the daily operations and maintenance of athletic facilities. This position provides hands-on experience in NCAA Division II athletics administration, event management, and facility operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the coordination and execution of all home athletic contests and special events in compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional guidelines

  • Serve as event manager for assigned sports, including game day operations, staffing, and supervision

  • Coordinate event logistics including officials, game personnel, security, ticketing, and visiting team needs

  • Assist with scheduling and managing athletic facility usage, including practices, competitions, and outside rentals

  • Oversee setup and breakdown for athletic events, including equipment, signage, and field/court preparation

  • Provide supervision and direction to student workers and event staff

  • Ensure facilities are game-ready and maintained to a high standard

  • Assist with emergency action plans and risk management procedures during events

  • Support budget tracking, inventory management, and equipment maintenance

  • Collaborate with campus partners (facilities, campus safety, marketing, etc.) to ensure successful events

  • Perform other duties as assigned by athletics administration

  • Must be accepted into a Masters program at CMU

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required; acceptance into a Colorado Mesa University graduate program required

  • Strong interest in athletic administration, event management, or facility operations

  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations preferred

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by athletic schedules

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
