Strategic Communications Assistant

Primary Function

Conference USA is accepting applications for the Strategic Communications Assistant position for the 2025-26 academic year. This 10-month internship begins August 1, 2025. Located in Coppell, Texas, CUSA is a 12-member DI conference sponsoring championships in 19 sports. This position supports both the Communications and Digital Content departments by serving as the primary communications contact for Cross Country, Track & Field, Women’s Bowling, Women’s Tennis and Men’s Golf, while also assisting in content sharing for the league’s social media channels.

Duties and Responsibilities

Communications

• Support the league’s strategic communications under the direction of the Assistant Commissioner.

• Excellence in managing deadlines and providing customer service to all external entities upon request.

• Serve as the primary contact for designated sports, managing press releases, statistics, website updates, historical records and award submissions.

• Write weekly statistical recaps and Player of the Week releases for assigned sports.

• Act as liaison to sport-specific communications directors at member schools.

• Work to help identify and communicate CUSA messages and stories through website and social media

• Assist in championship preparation and execution in collaboration with Sports Services

• Distribution and record-keeping for all-academic honors with Academic Services

• Research and preparation of relevant information for NCAA sport committees

• Compilation and distribution of NCAA statistical and award information to member institutions

Multimedia

• Assist in managing official CUSA social media channels for assigned sports

• Contribute to and maintain Digital Content calendar, generating creative/engaging social media ideas.

• Adhere to branding/style guidelines for CUSA, member schools, media partners and corporate sponsors

• Assist in clipping video plays for social during CUSA games

Skills and Experience Needed

• Previous experience in a collegiate or professional sports communications office preferred.

• Strong writing and editing skills with a solid understanding of AP style.

• Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with an emphasis on attention to detail, work ethic and honesty.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required.

• Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, StatCrew, NCAA Live Stats and SIDEARM strongly preferred.

Compensation

• This position pays $2,500 per month.
