
Position Summary
The Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing & Communications reports to the Senior Associate AD for External Affairs and is responsible for leading all media relations, marketing, fan engagement, and digital growth strategies for ENMU Athletics. This position plays a critical role in driving attendance, revenue generation, student-athlete and sports program promotion, and overall brand visibility for the department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Sports Information & Media Relations
Serve as primary or secondary media contact, managing relationships with local, regional, and national outlets
Write and distribute press releases, game recaps, previews, and feature stories aligned with marketing and brand strategy
Oversee statistical reporting, record keeping, and NCAA/conference compliance for all assigned sports
Lead media day planning and execution, including content capture, messaging alignment, and distribution
Manage and update the official ENMU athletics website, including rosters, schedules, and news content
Coordinate game day media operations and communications, including live stats, postgame reports, and broadcast support
Oversee submission of internal honors, conference and national awards, honors, and nominations
Support broadcast coordination (FloSports and other platforms), including graphics, storylines, and on-air information
Assist in crisis communications and official statements in coordination with senior administration
Archive and maintain historical records, statistics, and program history
Marketing & Revenue Generation
Develop and execute a comprehensive, department-wide marketing strategy, including sport-specific plans
Create campaigns to drive:
Season ticket sales
Group sales
Event attendance
Collaborate to build campaigns (email, SMS, digital) focused on renewals, deposits, and new sales
Support sponsorship activation, fulfillment, and partner visibility across events and digital platforms
Social Media & Digital Strategy
Own and execute department-wide social media strategy across Instagram, X, TikTok, Facebook and other developing social media platforms
Manage daily content calendar and real-time game day posting
Track analytics and KPIs (engagement, reach, conversions) to optimize performance
Content & Creative Oversight
Oversee creation of video, graphics, and digital storytelling content
Align content strategy with recruiting, fan engagement, and sponsor value
Ensure consistent brand voice and visual identity across all platforms
Fan Engagement & Game Day Experience
Lead game day atmosphere, promotions, and fan engagement initiatives
Script and execute in-game elements, including reads, promotions, and sponsor activations
Develop fan journey strategies (first-time attendee to repeat customer)
Drive student, faculty/staff, and community engagement efforts
Leadership & Collaboration
Works with senior administration to assist in the direction of:
Sports Information Coordinator
Greyhound Broadcast Coordinator
Sports Information Assistant and other student workers
Work collaboratively with other internal and external units
Assist in overall branding and external strategy for ENMU Athletics
Regular and predictable attendance required
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in collegiate athletics
Demonstrated experience in media relations/sports information, marketing, promotions, and fan engagement
Experience in social media management and digital marketing preferred
Familiarity with CRM/email platforms (e.g., Hometown, Mailchimp) preferred
Experience with analytics tools and performance tracking preferred

Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions
Creative thinker with strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Physical Demand and Working Conditions:
Work is generally performed indoors in a non-smoking facility, with occasional outdoor work during athletic events
Requires travel, evenings, and weekend work for athletic events
Physical activity as required for event operations
Work sometimes requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a consistent amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects.
