Position Description

The Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach will assist with all aspects of the Men's Lacrosse program and support the Head Men's Lacrosse Coach in fostering a positive and competitive NCAA Division III student-athlete experience. The Assistant Coach will assist in recruiting, coaching, mentoring, and developing student-athletes while supporting the mission of Eastern University and the Department of Athletics. The position will contribute to the academic, athletic, personal, and spiritual development of student-athletes and assist with operational and administrative responsibilities within the program and department.

Position Responsibilities

  • Recruit and retain student-athletes who align with Eastern University's mission, values, and academic standards.

  • Assist with all aspects of coaching, including practice planning, game preparations, scouting, film analysis, and skill development.

  • Assist with prospective student-athlete campus visits, recruiting events, and recruiting communications.

  • Provide mentorship and support to student-athletes, fostering academic success, athletic excellence, leadership development, and personal growth.

  • Assist with team operations including travel, equipment management, camps, clinics, fundraising initiatives, alumni engagement activities, and special events.

  • Assist with social media, marketing, and promotional efforts that enhance the visibility of the Men's Lacrosse program and Eastern University Athletics.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to NCAA Division III philosophy and compliance with all NCAA, conference, institutional, and departmental regulations.

  • Maintain knowledge of NCAA, conference, and University policies and complete all required compliance and educational requirements.

  • Assist with game management, event administration, departmental initiatives, and other operational responsibilities as needed.

  • Perform secondary administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Athletics Director.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Men's Lacrosse Coach, Athletics Director, or their designee in support of the Men's Lacrosse program, Athletics Department, and University mission.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with members of the Athletics Department, faculty, staff, and the campus community.

Status:  Staff, full-time, exempt, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.

  • Demonstrate knowledge in NCAA DIII rules along with the MAC Conference. 

  • Ability to learn and use various recruiting software and social media platforms. 

  • The ability, and desire, to work successfully within a team-oriented department environment is required.

  • A commitment to the Division III philosophy of athletics, a working knowledge of NCAA rules, and a demonstrated ability to recruit, retain and mentor student-athletes is essential.

  • Candidates must exhibit an understanding of, and support for, the University’s Christian Mission.

  • Additional qualifications include excellent interpersonal and organization skills and an ability to effectively communicate the mission and vision of Eastern University and the Athletic Department to alumni and friends of the university.

In accordance with state laws, Act 73 of 2007, Act 153 of 2014, Act 168 (relating to the Child Protective Services Law), school employees of Eastern University who will have "direct contact with children" must complete the background check process prior to employment.  Results must be submitted within ten days of receipt.
