Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Baseball Coach is responsible for leading and developing a competitive NCAA Division II baseball program while maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence, sportsmanship, and character development. This includes managing all aspects of team operations, coaching, recruiting, academic support, compliance, fundraising, and community relations.
Coaching - 50%
Provides a competitive team within the Peach Belt Conference as well as on a regional and national level.
Develop and implement effective practice plans that emphasize player development, teamwork, and strategic execution.
Lead the team during games with sound in-game decision-making and adjustments.
Supervise and mentor assistant coaches and support staff to ensure high standards of instruction, communication, and conduct.
Monitor student-athlete well-being, providing guidance and support both on and off the field.
Oversee strength and conditioning programming in coordination with athletics performance staff.
Maintain and inventory all equipment and ensure care of facilities.
Recruitment - 30%
Recruits of quality high academic student-athletes.
Identify, recruit, and retain student-athletes who demonstrate athletic talent, academic ability, and character.
Develop a comprehensive recruiting strategy consistent with NCAA Division II rules and institutional policies.
Build and maintain a robust recruiting network, including high school coaches, club programs, and scouting services.
Manage all aspects of the recruiting process including campus visits, scholarship allocation, and communication with prospective athletes and their families.
Leverage recruiting software and digital tools to manage evaluations and databases.
Compliance - 10%
Ensure full compliance with NCAA Division II, conference, and institutional rules and policies.
Work closely with compliance staff to monitor academic eligibility, recruiting activities, and team operations.
Oversee the baseball program budget, ensuring responsible and strategic use of funds.
Manage scheduling, team travel, purchasing, and equipment in alignment with department procedures.
Track academic progress of student-athletes in partnership with academic support staff.
Submit required reports, maintain accurate records, and participate in departmental meetings and planning.
Community Relations/Fundraising - 5%
Serve as a visible and active ambassador for the baseball program and university within the campus and local community.
Organize and participate in community service projects and outreach initiatives.
Cultivate relationships with alumni, donors, and program supporters to build long-term engagement.
Collaborate with the Athletics Department and Institutional Advancement to plan and execute fundraising efforts, including events, campaigns, and targeted appeals.
Represent the baseball program at university, athletic, and public relations events.
Other - 5%
