Intern / Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach

Primary Function:

The Intern / Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach will support the daily activities of the NCAA D-III men’s lacrosse program.  Responsible for assisting the head coach with all aspects of the program including but not limited to on-field coaching, recruiting, practice planning, game preparation, team travel, player development, teaching duties and additional tasks assigned.

 

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Assist the head coach in all phases of recruiting prospective student-athletes, including communication, evaluations, campus visits, and maintaining recruiting databases.  

  • Assist with planning, organization, an execution of practices, competitions, film review, and team activities.  

  • Support scouting and game preparation, including film breakdown, opponent analysis, and strategy development.  

  • Assist with travel logistics, including scheduling transportation, lodging, meals, and game-day operations.

  • Help manage team equipment, apparel, and inventory needs.

  • Assist with scheduling practices, meetings, team functions, and community events.

  • Support the academic success, personal growth, and overall well-being of student-athletes.

  • Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional policies.

  • Provide quality customer service and communication to student athletes, families, faculty, administration, fans, and community members.

  • Assist in managing program budget and expenses responsibly.

  • Assist the head coach in evaluating program needs and recommending improvements to enhance the student-athlete experience and program success.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform general duties to support a positive, safe, and competitive team culture.

  • Assist with campus, clinics, fundraising events, and community engagement activities.

  • Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment within the athletic department and campus community.

  • Complete duties as assigned by head coach.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Athletics.

Qualifications:


Education, Certifications, Training, Experience:

  • Bachelor degree required

  • Previous successful collegiate playing experience preferred

  • Prior coaching, leadership, or instructional experience preferred

Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:

  • Ability to coach, teach, and recruit within the values and philosophy of Division III athletics and a liberal arts institution

  • Demonstrated knowledge of lacrosse

  • Dedication to the development of the total student-athlete

  • Strong communication and interaction skills

  • Strong computer skills; proficient with technology, including video breakdown and recruiting databases

  • strong organizational, administrative and time-management abilities
