Athletics Business Operations (Fellow)

Position Function:

Supports the Athletics Business Office in the execution of financial, operational, and administrative functions. Assists with budget management, financial reporting, and process coordination while ensuring accurate tracking and stewardship of departmental assets through property and inventory management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist with daily business office operations, including financial transaction processing, reconciliations, and expense reviews.
2. Assist with preparation of routine financial reports, forecasts, and ad hoc analyses.
3. Assist with the review and process purchase requests, travel reimbursements, and invoices in compliance with institutional and NCAA policies.
4. Help maintain financial tracking systems and support audit and documentation requests.
5. Collaborate with coaches and staff to provide guidance on business procedures and policies.
6. Assist with payroll-related processes and personnel expense tracking.
7. Support budget development, monitoring, and variance analysis for assigned units.
8. Help accurate records of departmental assets, including equipment, technology, and furnishings.
9. Conduct periodic inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
10. Assist with coordinating asset tagging, tracking, transfers, and disposals in accordance with institutional policies.
11. Partner with equipment, IT, and facilities staff to monitor asset lifecycle management.
12. Assist with onboarding related to business office systems and processes.
13. Support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
14. Help maintain documentation, tracking tools, and internal reporting resources.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
2. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial systems.
3. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
4. Interest in collegiate athletics business operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Basic data entry and/or word processing skills. 
2. Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers. 
3. Records maintenance skills. 
4. Knowledge of payroll policies and procedures. 
5. Knowledge of university accounting procedures involving procurement, travel, and/or employment. 
6. Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
7. Ability to perform simple accounting procedures. 
8. Ability to analyze and solve problems. 
9. Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures. 
10. Ability to handle sensitive information.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. 
• No or very limited exposure to physical risk. 
• No or very limited physical effort required.
