
The Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services directs and manages a comprehensive student-athlete services program inclusive of academic services, life skills, and career readiness. This individual also maintains a liaison relationship with various University units to facilitate student progress at the University.
Responsibilities & Duties
Assist the coaches with the academic requirements of their recruits.
Primary academic contact for Football and other sports as assigned.
Establishes, maintains and monitors the academic records in assigned sports.
Assist in monitoring and managing APR, GSR, FGR, and other required academic metrics.
Administer and report required NCAA senior exit interviews.
Serve as primary liaison and review for all University, Regional, and National awards in the student-athlete services area.
Monitors class attendance and course performance of student-athletes in assigned sports.
Develops information on academic obligations, athletic eligibility and personal problems of the student-athletes in order to assist them in maintaining appropriate academic progress in assigned sports.
Maintains a liaison relationship with the Registrar’s Office, Career Services, Housing Office, Dining Services, and academic departments to facilitate student progress at the University in assigned sports.
Serves as an advisor for the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC)
Serves as department’s primary liaison to Campus Career Services Office.
Oversees the department’s Dennis Jackson Leadership Program and manage all aspects of community service, mental health training, financial literacy training and programming, career readiness, and NIL/Brand management.
Serves as primary coordinator for all team and department community service and outreach initiatives.
Serve as primary liaison for Campus Career Fair and any Career Fair development opportunities.
Serves as primary facilitator for 4-year resume development program with all student-athletes.
Co-Administer FYE Freshman Year Experience class for student-athletes as needed.
Serve on university and NCAA committees as directed.
Provide support as needed for game day and post season preparation and event management.
Serve as lead administrator in the planning and preparation for annual student-athlete welcome back programming event and annual student-athlete spring recognition event.
Serve as sport administrator with assigned sports.
Other duties as assigned.
As a member of the Murray State University Athletic Department, you shall comply with all applicable NCAA rules and regulations as provided in the NCAA Division I Manual. If you are found in violation of NCAA regulations, you shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures, including suspension without pay or termination of employment for significant or repetitive violations.
Minimum Education Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements
Two years’ experience in Athletics Administration required.
Ability to work well with students, faculty, staff
Strong working knowledge of NCAA rules and academic standards
Good communication skills
Strong leadership skills
Strong organizational skills
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred.
Two years of experience in academic advising preferred.
Experience in Division I athletics preferred.
Work Hours
May require nights, weekends, and occasional travel
