
The Assistant Director for Strategic Communications has direct oversight of the Conference’s communications, branding, social media and web presence, working with Conference personnel and NEWMAC membership to promote and publicize the Conference through written, visual and social media communications. The Assistant Director also has direct oversight of the Athletic Communications Committee, the Awards Working Group and other committees as assigned by the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities
Communications & Brand
Has direct oversight of the Conference’s web presence, including new media, news, website maintenance, record keeping, and social media.
Direct oversight and enforcement the Conference’s brand policies and communications best practices.
Promote the Conference through various forms of new media, written, visual and social media communications.
Responsible for various weekly Conference releases and the Conference Awards program.
Support all aspects of championship administration including but not limited to online ticketing, officiating, and online stores.
Committees & Governance
Has direct oversight of the Athletic Communications Committee and Awards Working Group.
Assist with SAAC and other NEWMAC Committees/Working Groups as assigned.
Liaise with assigned governance committees as assigned by the Executive Director.
Develop reports for assigned committees and move appropriate action through the governance structure.
Disseminate reports in a timely manner to committee members.
Media Rights & Championships
Assist with all aspects of the FloSports Media Rights Agreement.
Assist with championship production requirements.
Other Responsibilities
Serves as primary media contact and liaison with local and national media.
Serve on National and Regional Committees.
Coordinate and plan designated meetings and special events.
Plan and organize Conference programming.
All other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience
Required
3-5 years of experience in intercollegiate athletics, athletic communications, web site maintenance, media relations, journalism, new media, marketing or related field.
Strong leadership abilities and a proven track record of managing complex projects/events and leading teams, content calendars, and creation of original content.
Exceptional verbal, written, and online communication skills are essential.
Must be able to manage multiple responsibilities under tight deadlines.
Ability to work independently.
Knowledge and adherence to NCAA Division III and NEWMAC Conference rules and policies are critical.
Proficient computer skills in the following programs: Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, athletics website content management systems, web streaming, and social media platforms such Instagram, X and YouTube.

Work Environment
Must be able to work remotely from a home office and located within the NEWMAC geographic footprint.
Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
Ability to concentrate for long periods of time.
The position will require travel as well as night and weekend work.
Salary and Benefits: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience ranging from $52,500 – $65,000. The NEWMAC provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental and a retirement contribution.
