Position Summary

New York University is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Strength & Conditioning Coach to lead the development and execution of a comprehensive performance program for all varsity student-athletes. This role is responsible for enhancing athletic performance, reducing injury risk, and fostering a culture of excellence through evidence-based training methodologies and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties

● Design, program, implement, and monitor strength and conditioning programs for all intercollegiate teams

● Develop periodized training plans tailored to sport-specific and individual athlete needs

● Utilize best practices to improve performance outcomes while minimizing injury risk

● Integrate data-driven approaches including Velocity-Based Training (VBT), force plate analysis, and GPS monitoring systems

● Track, evaluate, and adjust programs based on athlete performance metrics and feedback

● Demonstrate and teach proper lifting techniques, including Olympic lifts and foundational movement

patterns

● Supervise and manage full-time and part-time assistant strength and conditioning coaches

● Coordinate and oversee the operation of the athletic fueling station to support performance and recovery needs

● Work closely with peak performance staff, including athletic trainers, nutritionists, and menta lperformance coaches, to support holistic athlete development

Qualifications

Required:

● Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field (Master’s preferred)

● Minimum of 3 years of experience coaching at the professional, collegiate, or elite athlete level

● Nationally recognized strength and conditioning certification (e.g., CSCS, SCCC, USAW)

● Familiarity with performance technologies including VBT, force plates, and GPS monitoring systems

● Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

● Current CPR/AED certification (must include an in-person component) or ability to obtain certification prior to employment

Preferred:

● Master’s degree in Exercise Science or a performance-related discipline.

● Experience managing staff and working within a multidisciplinary performance team
