POSITION: Graduate Assistant - Athletics – Throws Coach
REPORTS TO: Head Coach Daniel Caulfield – PennWest California (located just below Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree. Valid driver’s license and Insurance. Background in throwing – preferably with collegiate experience. Must enroll in nine graduate credits per semester (fall and spring) at PennWest University.
COMPENSATION: The GA will receive an hourly rate $15.00/hour and work 300 hours in the fall and 300 hours in the Spring which can be used to offset tuition costs. PLEASE NOTE: fees, room/board, additional tuition charges, books, and incidental costs ARE NOT COVERED. Summer/Winter session costs of any type ARE NOT COVERED by the graduate assistantship.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Assist in coaching throwers and help transport the cross-country team when needed.
DUTIES:
Drive cross-country team in state vehicles to practice twice a week, and occasionally to some meets.
Help coach collegiate throwers. Additional coaching opportunities/responsibilities will be given to any interested GA with more experience.
Assist with meet-day set up and operations – we will host 1 cross country meet and 2-3 track meets.
Provide logistical support to other coaches.
Candidate must be able to work extended and/or irregular hours including evenings and weekends.
Pass NCAA exams – which will be administered once the candidate is offered the position.
Pass the University Safety and Risk management training for state vehicle use.
Must have Act 33, Act 34, Act 114 Fingerprinting and PITT training – more information on these will be given later in the process.
Candidate must be currently enrolled or accepted into a PennWest University graduate school program.
