Athletic Trainer

You will work alongside the other licensed staff athletic trainers as well as under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer.  The AT will help supervise in the care of over 500 student-athletes at Southwestern College.  Duties include, but are not limited to:

Primary Responsibilities

Ø  Injury prevention and care, injury assessment and evaluation, referrals, treatment and rehabilitation, counseling and education, and scheduling of medical coverage

Ø  Supervision and education of graduate assistant athletic trainer(s) and Pre-AT students

Ø  Daily athletic training facility operations

Ø  Working with doctors and other allied healthcare professionals to deliver care to our student-athletes

Ø  Recordkeeping, documentation, and administrative duties as assigned

Ø  Communication our of policies to student-athletes and coaches

Ø  Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and/or Head Athletic Trainer

Required Qualifications

Ø  Bachelor’s degree - master’s degree preferred

Ø  BOC certification required

Ø  CPR for the Professional Rescuer/First Aid certification required

Ø  Eligible for licensure by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts

Ø  Experience within an ATEP program preferred

Ø  Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with a variety of athletes, coaches, and the public in the higher educational setting

Ø  Paid professional dues (State, District and National)

Ø  Work-life balance supported by 120 hours of vacation per year (accrued monthly with 10 hours per month) and 96 hours of sick leave per year (accrued monthly with 8 hours per month).  Up to 12 paid holidays; half-day Friday scheduled June through July.
