Assistant Athletic Trainer

•        Evaluate and treat athletic injuries.

•        Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions as well as the ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality of data.

•        Manage short- and long-term rehabilitation plans

•        Supervise medical care needs of specific teams as assigned by Director of Sports Medicine.

•        Assist in establishing and maintaining a working relationship with coaches, physicians, parents and refer students as necessary.

•        Maintain detailed medical records and insurance for student-athletes.

•        Coordinate pre-participation physical examinations with Director of Sports Medicine.

•        Schedule doctor’s appointments for injured athletes.

•        Assist with inventory of medical supplies and equipment.

•        Counsel student-athletes with regard to a variety of medical issues

•        Remain in full compliance with NCAA, conference and college policies and procedures, and acknowledges this compliance as part of the evaluation process.

•        Obtains the required continuing education credits to fulfill the requirements for licensure renewal and national certification.

•        Frequent evenings and weekend work required.

•        Other duties as assigned.

•        Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little to no supervision.

•        Highly effective verbal and written communication skills. Including stress/pressure situations when talking to athletes, medical professionals, staff, and families.

•        Excellent interpersonal skills, including collaboration, relationship building, and the ability to respond positively and flexibly when working with all levels in the organization and with outside parties.

•        Ability to adapt to change in the work environment, manage competing demands and deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.

•        Ability to accept supervision, assignments, change and correction. Proven effectiveness in dealing with a wide range of professionals, staff, and administrators.

•        Ability to balance priorities to accomplish assigned tasks within the required time frame and be able to shift quickly between several tasks without loss of continuity.

•        Ability and desire to be a strong team player and develop team dynamics within the athletic staff

•        Desire to engage in meaningful and intentional professional development appropriate for areas of responsibility and actively engage in personal and campus well-being initiatives.

•        Ability to carry out all responsibilities and objectives in a professional manner.
