Associate Athletic Trainer Instructor – Department of Kinesiology

Primary

·        Supervise the medical care of assigned athletic teams, including the prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play of athletic injuries.

·        Develop, implement, and manage short- and long- term rehabilitation plans for injured student-athletes.

·        Exercise independent clinical judgement in the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play decisions while maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of medical information

·        Coordinate pre-participation physical examinations in collaboration with the Head Athletic Trainer.

·        Schedule physician appointments and coordinate medical referrals for injured student-athletes.

·        Counsel student-athletes regarding medical conditions, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and overall health and wellness.

·        Maintain accurate and confidential medical records, injury documentation, and insurance records for student-athletes.

·        Provide daily supervision of athletic training facility operations.

·        Oversee NCAA drug testing and ensure compliance with all applicable NCAA regulations.

·        Assist in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with coaches, physicians, parents, and other healthcare providers to support student-athletic care.

·        Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with departmental administration and sports medicine operations.

·        Teach a minimum of three (3) contact hours per term in the Department of Kinesiology.

·        Maintain compliance with all NCAA, conference, university, and departmental rules, policies, and procedures.

 

Secondary

·        Obtain and maintain all required continuing education credits necessary for state licensure and national certification.

·        Be an engaged member of the Athletics Department and the University community by participating in departmental meetings, committees, and university events.

·        Be responsive and timely in addressing requests from departmental support staff.

·        Promote a positive image of the University and Athletics Department by participating in community and professional organizations, representing the University at professional meetings, and serving on community committees.

·        Utilize and maintain familiarity with Teamworks software.

·        Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer and/or the Director of Athletics.
