Assistant Director, Marketing

Position Summary: This position will work with the Associate Athletic Director of Marketing and Creative services to implement comprehensive email marketing and digital advertising plans to drive revenue for Tulane Athletics. This person will utilize digital advertising, email campaigns, marketing automation, and lead generation to grow the Tulane fan base with the goal of increasing ticket sales, fundraising, sponsorship, and other ancillary revenue. This person will collaborate with multiple departments in Athletics, including ticketing, development, sponsorships, and creative services. This person will also organize and coordinate all game presentation elements for women’s basketball and assigned non-ticketed sports.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Function: Execute Comprehensive Digital Marketing Plans to Drive Revenue - Work with the Associate Athletic Director of Marketing & Creative Services to develop comprehensive digital and social media marketing plans to drive ticket sales for all five (5) ticketed sports and increase annual fund donations; execute digital advertising and social media marketing campaigns to promote season tickets, mini plans, single game tickets, and donations to the Green Wave Club; work with the ticket office and development staff to identify and target new potential ticket buyers and donors; execute lead generation campaigns via social media, email, and digital advertising to produce leads for the ticket sales staff; and stay abreast of industry trends, emerging marketing techniques, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to continuously innovate and improve marketing strategies. (35%)

Function: Manage Email and Automated Marketing Efforts - In conjunction with the Associate Athletic Director of Marketing and Creative services, manage a robust email marketing program using Oracle Eloqua; work with Paciolan to create automated workflows and email campaigns that enhance ticket sales and fundraising efforts; and track campaign performance, analyze results and adjust as needed to maximize campaign effectiveness. (30%)

Function: Organize and Coordinate All In-game Elements for Assigned Sports - Primary marketing contact for women’s basketball and other assigned non-ticketed sports; create promotional schedules to drive attendance for assigned sports that includes engaging theme nights and giveaways; collaborate with the ticket office to implement ticket deals and promotions to drive sales; write scripts and timelines for assigned sports; coordinate all in-game elements for home events of assigned sports, including promotions, presentations, videoboard, music, entertainment, etc.; and help execute game presentation elements for all home football games. (30%)

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, sports management, communications or a related field

  • 1 year of marketing experience

OR

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent

  • 3 years of marketing experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Competencies:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Ability to interact effectively with coaches, administrators, student-athletes and vendors

  • Extremely organized, self-starter, intrinsically motivated

  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail

  • Possess analytical skills to make data driven decisions

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, email, social media, etc.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during games and special events, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree

  • Marketing experience at the NCAA Division-I level

  • Experience using Oracle Eloqua for email and marketing automation

NCAA Related:

Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately.  Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
