ACADEMICS & STUDENT-ATHLETE SUPPORT SERVICES (SASS) GRADUATE ASSISTANT

OVERVIEW

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (Little Rock Athletics) is seeking an Academics & Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS) Graduate Assistant. This position will have a variety of responsibilities including monitoring academic progress, aiding in the construction and approval of student-athlete schedules, helping to conduct weekly meetings with at-risk student-athletes and monitoring study hall on a weekly basis.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·  Monitor and track student-athlete progress towards degree for sports as assigned

·  Meet with at-risk student-athletes on a weekly basis to discuss grades and class progress

·  Assist student-athletes with various study strategies to improve academic performance

·  Aid in reviewing class selections for assigned student-athletes

·  Monitor study hall on a weekly basis as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

•    Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education

•    Regular admission to a UA Little Rock graduate program or good standing with the UA Little Rock Graduate School for continuing graduate student

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

·    Possess excellent written and communication skills.

·    Possess excellent computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel)

·    Maintain an appropriate degree of professionalism and confidentiality

·    Exhibit problem-solving and critical thinking skills
