
COMMUNICATIONS GRADUATE ASSISTANT
The Athletics Communications Graduate Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the athletics communications office while gaining hands-on experience in collegiate sports information, media relations, and digital storytelling. This position assists with promoting athletics programs, managing statistical information, and serving as a liaison between teams, coaches, and media. This position will serve as the primary media contact for at least two sports, implement social media campaigns to increase fan engagement, assist in updating the Athletic Department website as needed, and assist in maintaining records, photos and statistics. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Required Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education;
Regular admission to a UA Little Rock graduate degree program or good standing with the UA Little Rock Graduate School for continuing graduate students;
Ability to work the required hours (FT-50% - 20 hours per week/PT-25% - 10 hours per week) with regular attendance.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in working in an Athletics Department or sports setting
Key Responsibilities
Media Relations & Game Coverage
Assist with game-day operations, including statistics, score reporting, live stats, and postgame notes.
Serve as media contact for assigned sports, as directed.
Assist with credentialing, press box operations, and media hospitality.
Content Creation & Digital Communications
Write and edit press releases, game previews, recaps, feature stories, and bios.
Assist with website updates and content management.
Support social media coverage and digital storytelling initiatives.
Statistical & Record Management
Maintain team and individual statistics, historical records, and archives.
Compile and distribute game notes and media guides.
Administrative Support
Assist with daily office operations, scheduling, and correspondence.
Coordinate with coaches, athletic staff, and campus communications.
Professional Development
Gain exposure to NCAA, conference, and institutional communications standards.
Participate in training, mentorship, and career development opportunities within athletics communications.
