Director of Communications and Brand Strategy

Summary of Job Duties:

The Director of Communications and Brand Strategy is a twelve month position and will be responsible for assisting the assistant athletics director in planning and organizing all phases of a Division I sports information department as well as leading the department’s marketing efforts. Additionally the incumbent will be the primary contact for women’s basketball. All duties and responsibilities are governed by state, federal and university policy.


Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree;

  • At least two years of experience in sports information or athletic media relations. 

Preferred Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, sports management;

  • Experience with relevant software programs is preferred (TAS Software, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, etc.).

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between the athletic department and all media outlets;

  • Write and edit news releases, media guides, and game notes; 

  • Maintain statistics, records, and photo archives; 

  • Manage and edit the UA Little Rock Athletics website; 

  • Develop and manage the athletic department's digital marketing efforts and campaigns; 

  • Coordinate, alongside External Operations staff, the development, and implementation of marketing campaigns; 

  • Collaborate with the University's Office of Communications; 

  • Manage athletic department's brand guidelines and strategy, including digital marketing efforts and campaigns; 

  • Maintain compliance with all NCAA, Ohio Valley Conference, and institutional regulations; 

  • Primary contact for women's basketball and other selected sports; 

  • Travel with the women's basketball team as the primary contact; 

  • Assist the director in planning and organizing all phases of Division I sports information department; 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of NCAA, Ohio Valley Conference, and University regulations;

  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with people and present a positive image of the University;

  • Experience with relevant software programs is preferred (TAS Software, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, etc.);

  • Ability to work numerous nights and weekends during the academic year;

  • Ability to travel with select teams.
