Football Creative Content Designer

Organization's Summary Statement:

As a key member of the Maryland Football staff, this role reports directly to the Creative Director for Football, with a secondary reporting line to the Senior Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing Strategy and Fan Experience. The primary mission is to elevate program visibility and drive student-athlete recruitment through high-impact graphic design and social media strategy.

Core Responsibilities:

Recruiting support; manage a high volume of graphic design work with a primary emphasis on the creative recruiting needs of the Head Coach and staff. Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive football content calendar. Partner with external staff members to execute creative assets across various digital platforms. Coordinate design materials, presentations, and creative support for on-campus recruiting visits. Serve as the program’s internal social media creator, focusing on producing high-quality, native content for Instagram Reels and TikTok. Provide creative coverage of practices, workouts, team operations, and community service initiatives. Lead student-athlete photo shoots, including the selection, archiving, and management of the program’s visual library.

Leadership & Compliance:

Recruit and oversee graphic design interns to support the football program's creative output. Act as a vital bridge between the football program, the broader Athletic Department, and the University. Ensure all creative work is performed in strict compliance with NCAA, Big Ten, and University policies and procedures.

Physical Demands:

This position requires working during evenings and weekends, which are considered non-standard work hours. While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a computer and other office devices such as telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc.; Constantly moves about the facility and event site before, during and after events to service clients; and constantly communicates via telephone, email and in person with others to exchange accurate information. Standing, walking, kneeling/crouching, balancing, and lifting up to 20 pounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

Three (3) years of professional graphic design experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of graphic design.

Skill in oral and written communication.

Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products.

Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.

Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.

Preferences:  Experience at the NCAA Division I or professional sports level is highly preferred. Preference will be given to individuals with a deep understanding of the collegiate football recruiting cycle, experience in mobile-first social media content creation (TikTok/Reels), and a proven ability to manage high-volume workflows under tight deadlines.
