
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF SPORTS TURF

Responsible for the Athletic Department turfgrass program overseeing the maintenance program for all turfgrass practice, competition fields, and landscaped areas including determining budget and developing a program that includes mowing, field marking, fertility, weed and disease control, seeding, irrigation, aeration and topdressing. Supervise intern program and full and part time workers. Assist in snow removal and in event setups, including setting up tables and chairs, picking up trash.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, turfgrass management, or related field, plus two years turfgrass maintenance experience at commercial/professional facilities that has included responsibilities for determining turfcare needs, and analysis/resolution of turf related problems. Two years’ experience maintaining synthetic turf sports fields. Ability to maintain and operate mowing equipment, field sprayers, paint machines, carts, tractors, etc., and supervise the work of turf maintenance workers necessary. Must be able to obtain pesticide applicator’s license within 6 months.
Preferred qualifications: Athletic field turfgrass management experience preferred.
