Responsibilities include planning, organizing and leading a highly competitive Division I Men’s and Women’s Diving program.  Individual is expected to be able to develop and implement individualized training plans for divers, including a diving specific dryland program – working in conjunction with the department’s strength & conditioning staff.  Develop and implement a successful recruiting plan. Responsibilities also include assisting the Director of Swimming & Diving in the following areas: Ensuring all relevant institutional, Athletic Department, ACC, and NCAA rules and regulations are followed including but not limited to; eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, scheduling and academic progress. Promoting a positive environment to encourage student-athletes to strive for academic and athletic excellence. Assist in preparing and planning home meet operations and travel meet plans. Encourage and ensure the safety and well-being of the student athletes.

Job Summary

Oversees all aspects of a sports program. Recruits athletes, mentors athletes, fosters athletic, emotional, and academic group of student athletes. Oversees sports equipment, practice plans and schedules, skill development, designs coaching strategies. Oversees public and media relations. Coordinates team travel and schedule. Adheres to all rules and regulations. Oversees assistant coaching staff.

Essential Functions 

Coaching- carries out coaching assignments during daily workouts, practices and scheduled events. Enforces team rules. Maintains statistics. Monitors each assigned student-athlete’s academic and athletic performance and employs specific coaching modalities to meet needs.

Recruiting- recruits student-athletes; assists with departmental recruiting activities and carries out scouting assignments.

Financial and General Administration- assists with budget planning and coordination of team travel plans. Works with the facilities representative to adhere to practice and competition schedules. Responsible for meet set up and operations and performing data management during meets.

Physical conditioning- consults with athletic trainers and team physicians in monitoring the well-being of student athletes.

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Swimming & Diving. Includes adhering to policies established by the NCAA, ACC and the University and Athletic Department.

Physical Effort 

Instructing and demonstrating physical skills while coaching; extensive travel via car, air and bus. Must stand for long periods of time at meets and at practices. May have to lift or transport equipment.
