Job Description

The Assistant Director of Athletic Live Events plays a key role in the planning and execution of live experiences for collegiate athletics. This position supports the production of engaging, high-energy game presentations that enhance the fan experience, energize the crowd—regardless of event size—and uphold South Florida brand standards. The ideal candidate is a motivated, detail-oriented individual who thrives in live event environments and is eager to take creative and logistical ownership of smaller events while contributing to larger productions alongside senior staff. This is a hands-on role that blends creative planning, operational execution, and leadership of student workers in a fast-paced, team-driven atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support the live production of in-venue shows during home athletic events—serving as a senior producer for smaller events and assisting on larger productions—with a focus on delivering a high-quality fan experience.

  • Collaborate with senior producers, event staff, and coaching personnel to develop run-of-show documents, scripts, timing sheets, and production checklists tailored to each event.

  • Coordinate with internal departments, external partners, and digital media teams to ensure all promotional elements—such as sponsored content, giveaways, and social activations—are properly prepared, organized, and activated.

  • Oversee the readiness of AV equipment and venue production systems by coordinating with technical staff and facilities to ensure all technology is tested, functional, and event-ready prior to doors opening.

  • Serve as the point person for requesting and advising on all content needs—such as videos and graphics—by collaborating with creative teams and content producers and ensuring timely delivery and readiness of all assets prior to each game.

  • Manage student interns for both game day and non-game day responsibilities, providing guidance, assigning roles, and supporting their development across production, content prep, and operational tasks.

  • Work with broadcast partners to adapt game scripts and production elements to meet regional and national broadcast standards, requirements, and timing rules.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

Bachelor's Degree -OR- equivalent combination of education and experience. 2+ years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Degree in communications, broadcasting, sports management, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Experience in live event production or game presentation, preferably in a collegiate athletics environment.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and lead student workers effectively.

  • Creative mindset with a passion for live entertainment, fan engagement, and sports storytelling.

  • Familiarity with Daktronics Show Control.

  • Experience working with collegiate or professional sports teams.

  • Exposure to creative content production workflows (e.g., coordination with video editors or graphic designers).

  • Familiarity with content creation tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro.

  • Understanding of NCAA or conference-specific event presentation standards.
