
The University of Southern Mississippi, a member of the Sun Belt Conference and NCAA Division I (FBS), invites applicants for the position of Graduate Assistant for Athletics Administration. This is a 9-month, graduate student position that runs from August 11, 2026, to May 17, 2027, with the potential to be renewed. Position includes graduate school tuition and a stipend.
POSITION SUMMARY: This Graduate Assistant position provides direct support to the senior leadership team within Southern Miss Athletics. Responsibilities include assisting with day-to-day administrative operations, providing calendar and scheduling support for management team members as needed, preparing and distributing meeting materials and documents, and completing special projects as assigned by senior staff members. Additional duties include maintaining and organizing business office records and files, managing departmental mail distribution and delivery, and providing phone and front-office support as needed.
The Graduate Assistant will also assist with football game-day operations, support athletic department events and special initiatives, and contribute to the successful execution of programs and activities sponsored by Southern Miss Athletics. This position offers valuable experience in athletic administration, organizational management, and event operations within a Division I athletics environment. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree with preference in sport management, business, or other related field. One year of athletic experience in collegiate athletics and/or professional athletics as an undergraduate intern/volunteer is preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects effectively. Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint and other Microsoft programs.
COMPENSATION: Full graduate school tuition and a monthly stipend.
