
Job Summary
The Assistant Athletics Trainer provides specialized skills, management, leadership, and administration of the UTSA Athletic Medicine program. The position assists in the overall administrative duties of the department. The role is responsible for assisting with the organization, management, and administration of the Athletic Training Program as well as the supervision, treatment, and rehabilitation of the UTSA men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports programs in accordance with University and NCAA policies and philosophies.
Core Responsibilities
Provides athletic medicine services for team practices and competitions at home and on the road for assigned sports. Primary sport assignment is Women's Volleyball.
Assists in the overall administrative duties of the department.
Provides prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation for injuries to student-athletes.
Maintains medical records for all assigned student-athletes.
Designs and implements pre-habilitation and post-injury rehabilitation for the student-athletes.
Assists in the daily management of the training room, including maintenance and storage of supplies and equipment.
Assists in organizing and administering the athletic training facility.
Provides computer records of athletic injuries, illnesses, and their treatments.
Assists with issues concerning insurance.
Ensures all assigned tasks comply with University, American Athletic Conference, and NCAA rules.
Supervises other trainers.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree
Current on NATA Board Certification
Current State of Texas athletic training license or eligible to receive with 30 days of employment.
This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

Possibility of working in dangerous conditions such as blood-borne pathogen-related areas. Possibility of working in inclement weather conditions (i.e. cold, heat, rain, etc.).

This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
