Athletics Broadcast Production Assistant (Graduate Level | Live Events & ESPN+)

Summary

This is a hands-on graduate-level role supporting live production across Villanova Athletics, including ESPN+ broadcasts, in-venue video board shows, and overall A/V operations for 13 Division I sports. The role includes hands-on experience with industry-standard tools such as Ross XPression and Dashboard in support of ESPN+ productions.

Success in this role looks like the ability to operate confidently in live environments, contribute across multiple production roles, and support both control room and field-level execution. This position is part of a small, high-output operation and plays a key role in delivering professional-level broadcasts and event presentations.

Responsibilities

- Support live ESPN+ and in-venue productions across multiple sports throughout the academic year 

- Operate in control room roles including technical director, graphics, and replay in live broadcast environments 

- Build, prepare, and operate graphics using Ross XPression and Dashboard for ESPN+ broadcasts 

- Assist with setup, operation, and breakdown of broadcast and A/V systems (cameras, audio, RF, cabling, etc.) 

- Collaborate with production staff, talent, and engineering to execute live broadcasts 

- Assist with video board shows and in-venue presentation elements 

- Support general A/V needs for athletic events and external events as needed 

- Maintain organization and readiness of production equipment and workspaces 

- Troubleshoot technical issues in live and pre-production environments 

- This role requires a willingness to work across multiple areas of production and assist wherever needed in a live event environment 

Qualifications

Required

- Bachelor’s degree

- Prior experience in live broadcast or live event production (control room, camera, or similar) 

- Strong interest in sports broadcasting and live production environments 

- Ability to work nights, weekends, and flexible hours based on event schedules 

- Ability to lift and move production equipment and work in outdoor environments 

Preferred

- Familiarity with ESPN+ or collegiate athletics production workflows 

- Experience with Ross XPression and/or Dashboard, or similar live graphics systems 

- Familiarity with live production roles (technical director, graphics, replay, camera, audio) 

- Basic understanding of broadcast engineering, signal flow, or A/V systems 

- Strong communication skills and ability to work in fast-paced team environments
