
Advertising Summary: Under the guidance of the Associate AD for Student-Athlete Development, the Student-Athlete Development Intern will assist with all aspects of the student-athlete development program. The Student-Athlete Development Intern will assist in the development and daily operations related to student-athlete career development, leadership development, community engagement, personal development, and academic support services. This position requires some evening and weekend hours.

50% Student-Athlete Development/Event Planning
Essential
Assist in the planning and execution of student-athlete development initiatives, workshops, and events related to student-athlete career, leadership, and personal development, community engagement, and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
Support leadership development programs, community service activities, and wellness seminars and events
Support student-athlete development staff in the facilitation of group sessions or one-on-one developmental meetings with student-athletes
The individual will collaborate with different parts of the VCU Athletic Department and Campus departments including; VCU Academic Support, VCU Athletics Compliance, VCU Athletics Development, VCU Career Center, VCU Office of Multicultural Student Affairs
Assist the Student-Athlete Development Staff with the Rodney Awards Banquet, Student-Athlete Kick-Off, It’s on Us Campaign, Academic Achievement Celebrations, Student-Athlete Graduation, and other events as assigned.
45% Administrative Duties
Essential
Assist SASS Staff by providing administrative support for the day-to-day operations.
Assist with marketing content for VCU SASS and its social media outlets, community outreach programs, Student-Athlete Committee (SAAC), and RAMS Leadership Academy
Collect, maintain, and analyze program data for evaluation and improvement of all student-athlete development programs and student-athlete community engagement
Prepare reports, surveys, and usage summaries for department
Observe FERPA policies without appearing unhelpful and refer student-athletes to appropriate resources in a way that encourages them to follow through.
Through collaboration with the Associate AD for Student-Athlete Development, produce an annual report, research and evaluate student-athlete development programs as they relate to student-athlete development and life skills.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;
General knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; and
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
An advanced degree or progress towards a Master’s Degree
Personal student-athlete collegiate experience;
Multilingual skills; and
Experience working with student-athletes at a large, diverse, urban, NCAA Division l university.
Salary Range: $21.00/hour
